Fabric Testing
Martindale and Stoll Fabric Tests
Martindale
Fabric Test- Most
fabrics undergo the Martindale test to check their durability and suitability
for various uses. The test is also known as the rub test. Generally the higher
the rub number is, the more suitable the fabric is for heavy usage. During the
test the fabric samples are mounted flat and rubbed against an abrasive medium
(such as wool) in figure eight like motion. Number of cycles (rubs) determines
the abrasion rating. Stoll Fabric Test-
Another abrasion method used in fabric testing. In this method the fabric sample is mounted over an elastomeric pad
and rubbed vertically against an abradant.
The endpoint is evaluated and determined.
